We fished the NW end about 1/2 mile in from the Delaware River here's the aerial photo of the spot
The spot has large shallow flats (for the BASS) with deep channel drop offs on both sides (for the CATFISH), so it is only fishable by boat. We take out a 12 ft. flat bottom and 2 rods each and play catch and release.
8-16-02 Jim caught a WHOPPER 19 inch Black Bullhead Catfish
on night crawler
and had another bigger lunker up near the boat but we had no net
and it slipped away
8-20-02 7:45 pm I Caught a 13 inch Large Mouth Bass on a green
popper right off some large rocks near the lilly pads.
Tide was low and had
just turned to come in.
It was a nice size but still a little small. We
seen one 3x that size the night before but were speeding along and did not have
our line in
it actually spit on Jimbo as we passed by ... he was a LUNKER.
that's the one we're after.
Latter on, Jimbo had a nice size
Bass jump for his popper but Jim jerked the line and it
missed.
Still latter when we moved to the channels and switched rigs for bottom fishing
Jimbo had a Huge Heavy Bullhead Catfish on the line, after a good wearing
out and as it came to the surface it snapped his line and he never boated
it .... better go from 8 lb to 25 lb tess next time sonny.
I caught 2 tiny
EELS that were nibbling at my line and unfortunately had to boat
them both.
Double A came out with us but didn't get a bite.
9-10-02 11:30 pm Jim and I put in the boat (
all set with 2 new sport fishing seats ) and head out to do some late night
Catfishing.
Tide was almost all the way out. I caught one Bullhead about 14
inches. ( that one won the nights challenge 1 to Nothing )
About 12:15 we go to the shallow flats to try
some Bassin ... Well after a few casts there was SUDDENLY large swirls
of a Monster
.
In the dead still, pure black
night, it thrashed around just a few feet from the boat for several
minutes.. as if it was sizing us up for an attack! It was as if a large
beaver or swamp rat was ready to leap forward. It was very large we both
agree that it was 3 feet or more
.. A GIANT. so big we doubted it was a fish at all!. It then
quickly cruised back and forth we both threw our lores right on him but it never
bit. then it darted off to the other side and into deeper water, It was
still visible 100 yds away.
This mysterious "Lock Ness
Monster" now known as the "Westville Creek Monster"
has been seen several
times now.
The first time was on 8-20-02 when
it charged our boat, then on 9-15-02 Jim went out
ALONE and while checking the motor the Creature emerged and tried to go for
Jim's lore witch was hangin over the side of the boat. It rose up with such
commotion and a rush of water that it scared and shocked Jim .. so much so, that
he pulled anchor and speed right home.
The unknown monster has been seen
early to late evenings, cruising the channel searching for large
prey.
We will continue to hunt down and catch
this "The Monster of Big Timber Creek".
